Uxbridge- Frances A. (Rock) Gaffney, 94, passed away on Fri. June 22, 2018 at Newport Hospital peacefully in her sleep. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, William J. Gaffney in 2004.
        She is survived by two children, William Gaffney and his wife Janice of Newport, RI, and Cherylene Gaffney-Cummins and her husband William of Goodyear, AZ; 4 grandchildren, Brian Wood and his wife Rani, Caitlin Young, William Gaffney III and his wife Jennifer, and Brandy Wood; 4 great-grandchildren, Amelia Gaffney, Liam Gaffney, Logan Carter, and Jessica Wood. Born in Milford on Feb. 10, 1924, she was the daughter of Albert and Julia (Rozak) Rock and lived her whole life in Uxbridge on Hecla St.
        Mrs. Gaffney worked for General Electric for 20 years up until her retirement in 1984. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Marco Island, Florida with her husband, and also their trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun where they were successful Bingo players. She also liked dining out and trying new restaurants, she was an avid Red Sox fan. Above all, Frances loved her family and spending time with her grand and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Polish American Social and Civic Club, and a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church.
        Her funeral will be held on Sat. June 30 at 11am in St. Mary’s Church, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at Tancrell- Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge prior to Mass from 9-10:30am. To leave a condolence message for the family please visit:

Bill, Cherylene, my condolences' to you and your families. The loss of a parent is always a sad time in one's life, but feel good in knowing that your Mom has now joined your Dad in a better place. May she rest in peace.

Bill and Cherylene so sorry for the loss of you're mom. I remember her well. The weekends I would spend with you Cherylene. So sorry I could not attend. I just had surgery. My thoughts and prayers are with you and family. Jean Colby LaBossiere
