Douglas- Rita Mae (Bruno) Bloniasz, 96, Rita’s life was cut short on May 26th, 2018 at home, surrounded by her family, after a battle thyroid cancer.  She had hoped to make it to 100. She was predeceased by her husband John Bloniasz in 1981.

     She is survived by her two sons, John Bloniasz Jr. and his wife Carol who was her dedicated and loving caregiver for her last months, and Mark Bloniasz and his longtime companion Nancy Sullivan; 9 grandchildren: Joshua Bloniasz, Jaime Lyn Jacobson, Jennifer Bloniasz, Jacob Bloniasz, Jeremy Bloniasz, Mike Bloniasz, Corey Bloniasz, Tim Bloniasz, and Heather Whitaker, 16 great- grandchildren: Henry, Dylan, Barrett, Ollie, Evie, Asher, Wylie, Taylor, Addison, Keegan, Alana, Siobhan, Isabella, Sean, Lou, and Iris; 3 siblings, Arlene Auger of Sutton, Leon Bruno of NY, and Kathleen Rondeau of Whitinsville; a brother in-law Walter and his wife Caroline Bloniasz of VT; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 5 siblings, Helen Hominek, Albert Bruno, Robert Bruno, Barbara Greeno and Caroline Fulone, and a great grandson Jeremy.

     Born in Douglas on April 5, 1922 she was the 3rd child of 9 born to Henry and Viola (Hughes) Bruno. She was a lifelong resident of Douglas, and was the last of the original Riddle Brook Apt. residents, and was the eldest. Rita was a crossword puzzle and bingo enthusiast and loved the Douglas/Sutton bingo games. Rita was considered a “town historian” with her sharp mind of the old days.

too John and Carol so sorry for your lose when I first moved in too Riddlebrook she always either waved at me or she said hi too me she will be missed I was so sad over this when I heard she was such a super person I would like to extend my condolence for the family
