Whitinsville- Ruth H. (Schneider) Gauthier, 91, passed away on Thurs. Dec. 21 at Beaumont Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center after a period of declining Health. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years Roland G. Gauthier who died in 2002.

She is survived by a daughter Debra L. Smith of Sutton, 2 sisters; Irene Duquette of Pascoag, RI and Barbara Bacon of Whitinsville, and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her daughter Pamela Killian who died in 2007, and a brother Irving “Sid” Schneider. Born in Uxbridge on Aug. 21, 1926 she was the daughter of George and Nelly (Hewett) Schneider and grew up and lived all her life in the Whitinsville area.

Ruth worked many years as a Librarian for the Northbridge school systems, and was the book keeper for her and her husbands business: Gauthier’s Heating Co., out of Whitinsville. She was the former president and longtime member of the Blackstone Valley Art Assoc., she was a Girl Scouts Troop Leader for many years, and was very involved in many local charities including the March of Dimes. She was an avid reader, a great homemaker, and a very loving and affectionate mother. She was very strong willed and feisty, but also had a great sense of humor.

Her memorial funeral service will be held on Fri. Jan 5, 2018 at 10am in Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Whitinsville.
