Uxbridge-Sophie E. Oleksyk, 95, previously of Oak St. died Sat. July 18, 2015 in Beaumont Nursing & Rehab. Ctr.
     She is survived by a sister Mary Bochniak of Uxbridge; in-laws Russ Gaskell,Joseph DeVries II, Edward Wolanski, Owen Brothers, Jennie Oleksyk, and Barbara Oleksyk; and many nephews and nieces. She was sister of the late Stanley Oleksyk, Sr., Walter Oleksyk, Frank Oleksyk, Helen DeVries, Anne Gaskell, Noella Brothers, and Jennie Wolanski. Born May 16, 1920, in the Farnumsville section of S. Grafton, she was the daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Knapik) Oleksyk and lived in Uxbridge all her life.  A graduate of Uxbridge High School, she worked for the former Whitin Machine Works as a time clerk 40 years until her retirement.
     Sophie was a very humble and loving person.  She always looked forward to large family gatherings.  An avid animal lover, especially her Dachshund she Lived on a farm for most of her life, and enjoyed the outdoors caring for her family’s beautiful flower garden.  She enjoyed photography and taking day trips with her sisters in her younger years.  She radiated faith, goodness, unending generosity and will be honored and remembered by her family and friends as a person of love who only spoke kind words and always willed the good of another.  She will also be remembered for her sense of humor that she readily displayed with family, friends, and caretakers even during her final days. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church.
     The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caretakers at Beaumont Nursing Home for the years of compassionate care that they so lovingly provided to Sophie.
      Her funeral will be held on Wed. July 22 from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd. with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 71 Mendon St. Uxbridge.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  A calling hour at the funeral home will be Wed. July 22 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Parish, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge, MA  01569 or Beaumont Nursing & Rehab. Center, 85 Beaumont Dr., Northbridge, MA  01534.
