Whitinsville- Raymond H. Bisbee, 85, passed away on Fri. Feb. 12, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary G. (Battles) Bisbee in 2017.
A longtime member of St. Patrick’s Parish, he is survived by 4 children; John Bisbee of Charlton; Dianne Duvernay and her husband Richard of Whitinsville; Michael Bisbee and his wife Terese of Stow; and Tina Mason of Greensboro, NC; 4 grandchildren, Ryan and Katie Duvernay, and Kaitlin and Caroline Mason, many nieces and nephews, as well as sister and brother-in-laws in Ireland and England. He was also predeceased by a sister, Margaret Dean and a brother, William Bisbee.
Born in Whitinsville on July 4, 1935 he was the son of William and Malvina (Dumas) Bisbee. He graduated from Uxbridge High School, and served in the U.S. Air Force, enlisting on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day in 1953. He proudly served his country from 1953 -1962, stationed in Morocco, England and several different locations throughout the United States, receiving several honors including the National Defense Award. Raymond worked for General Motors for 30 years up until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed sports, politics, and John Wayne classics; listening to 50’s and 60’s music, and attending military air shows. Most of all he loved a great steak dinner, spending time with his children and grandchildren, sharing stories about his life, days in the military and his duties at work. Raymond was selfless and always made sure his family was taken care of, and kept them laughing with his quick wit and humor. He will be sorely missed.
His funeral will be held Wed. Feb. 17th with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
