Uxbridge- Edward J. Novack, 95, formerly of Elm St., passed away on Sun. Feb. 10, 2019 at home aside his daughter after a period of declining health. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years, Helen F. (Seyferth) Novack in 2002.
        He is survived by his daughter, Linda Kalinoski and her husband Robert of Uxbridge; 1 grand daughter, Kimberly Kalinoski Weber of Lusby, MD; 2 great-grandchildren, Ryley Weber and Lauren Weber; 2 sisters, Evelyn Greene of Mountain Home, AK, and Olive Godin of Uxbridge, and many nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by a grandson Michael Kalinoski, and 4 siblings: Jennie Swierz, and Matthew, Benjamin, and Frank Novack. Born in Uxbridge on Dec. 12, 1923 Edward was the son of John and Jadwiga “Jennie” (Budzyn) Nowak and grew up in Uxbridge where he has been a lifelong resident.
         Edward was a graduate of Uxbridge High School, and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He proudly served his country during the WWII era and was discharged in 1945 after serving on a Destroyer Escort in the Atlantic Fleet. After his discharge, Edward furthered his education attending the Boys Trade School in Worcester. He began working for the former Draper Corp. out of Hopedale as a draftsman, until he left to take a position at Fenwal in Ashland for over 30 years, becoming the head of his department, retiring as a project engineer in 1985.
He was a former president of the Uxbridge Polish American Veterans Club, with whom he marched in many local parades over the years. After his retirement, Edward and his wife enjoyed traveling around the country, visiting their daughter Linda wherever her husband was stationed during his time serving in the Air Force. Edward was a proud father and an amazing man. He was also a lifelong member of Good Shepherd Church, where he served as a Eucharist Minister for many years.
        His funeral will be held on Sat. Feb. 16 with a Mass at 11am in Good Shepherd Church, 121 Linwood St., Linwood. Calling hours at Tancrell- Jackman funeral home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge, will be held prior to Mass from 9 -10:30am. Burial will be privately held at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
