Douglas- William Ernest LaPan, 93, of Douglas, MA, passed away peacefully on Mon., September 23, 2024.
Born in Upton on January 7, 1931 he was the son of the late Harry and Nettie (Burnham) LaPan. Bill was married to the love of his life – Sis. They celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary together in January of 2024. His heart was broken when she passed away and his family has peace knowing he is finally back with her. Bill was also predeceased by his 5 brothers, Roland Arthur, Donald, Walter, and Lloyd and 3 sisters, Lucille, Phyllis, and Geraldine.
Bill is survived by his son, Kent and his wife LouAnn of Maine; a granddaughter, Missy and her husband Kenny of Charlton; and a great-grandson, Ryan Ward; 2 step grandchildren, Julie Bangma and her husband Dan Willsey of Amity, ME, and Jennifer Bangma and her companion Tim Cote of Grafton;He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
Bill spent most of his years as a truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Union. Once he retired, he spent a short time working for the Town of Douglas and also doing errands for a contractor. He loved being outdoors, tending to his yard and gardens, or just sitting in the swing out back. His passion and love of dogs was inspiring. In his younger years, Bill and Sis would take the Harley out for long rides. Bill was humble and kind, and was the gentlest, most caring person anyone could ever have had a chance to call a friend. He will be truly missed by so many.
His graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 12th at 11AM in Evergreen Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
