Uxbridge- William A. Ethier, 74, of N. Main St.passed away at home on Mon. Sept. 2, 2024 after a period of declining health. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Jean M. (Saucier) Ethier on Aug. 18, 2023.
Bill is survived by 2 children William J. Ethier and Kristine E. Ethier both of Uxbridge; a sister Evelyn Coffee of Blackstone; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Michael, Cathy, and Marcie. Born in Woonsocket, RI on July 25, 1950, he was the son of Alphonse “Bud” and Mary (McManus) Ethier and was raised in Millville. He lived in Uxbridge since 1981.
Mr. Ethier worked as a maintenance mechanic for Fafard Construction, American Tourister, and the Caterpillar Co. many years. He was educated at Blackstone Valley Technical High School and later from the David Hill Fanning School where he studied art. He was a proud U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran and served in the Sea Bees after his return from Vietnam. A member of Post 411 American Legion in Millville ,he served as their Treasurer many years. He was also a former member of the VFW in Uxbridge and Blackstone. A Civil War enthusiast, Bill enjoyed metal detecting, drawing, painting, and art in general. He was talented and could draw anything. He also wrote a children’s book, Play Ball The Baseball several years ago.
Memorial calling hours for Bill will be held Fri. Sept. 13 from 5 to 7 pm in Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd. Uxbridge. Cremation burial will full military honors will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Mon. Sept. 16th at 1 PM.
