Northbridge – William M. Daly, 78, passed away on Thurs. Dec. 29, 2016 at Milford Hospital after being stricken ill.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia A. (Marshall) Daly; his daughter Tara M. Valcourt of Westford; 2 sons David M. Daly and his wife Rhonda of LaMarque, TX and Sean M. Daly and his wife Mandi of Yukon, OK; 3 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild, 2 sisters Florence Bavaro of Scarboro, ME and Catherine Dirlam of Ashland, and many friends. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Alan Valcourt in Feb., 2016. Born in Waltham, MA on Aug. 11, 1938 he was the son of William M. and Loretta (Murray) Daly and lived in Uxbridge until moving to Northbridge 16 years ago.
Bill was a graduate of St. Mary’s Central Catholic High School, Class of 1956 and Boston College, Class of 1964, earning his degree in Accounting and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. He worked as an independent accounting until retiring at age 70. He was the recording secretary for the Knight of Columbus in Uxbridge.
Bill was a quiet man who had a very strong faith. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church, being very involved in church he served as Eucharistic Minister and enjoyed serving the senior’s Thanksgiving dinner each year. His family was very important to him and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Bill was an avid New York Yankees fan and was very knowledgeable in all sports trivia. He will be missed by all who knew him.
His funeral will be held on Fri. Jan. 6 from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 39 Church Ave. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Uxbridge.
