William Couture Obituary

Northbridge- William J. ”Bill” Couture ,65, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025 after a period of declining health.

He leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Margaret (Halacy) Couture; two children, Tiffany Couture of Grafton and James Couture of Worcester. He also leaves his sisters, Cathy Vitale and her husband William, Carol Dill and her husband Richard, Debbie Couture, and Shirley Zagame, all of Bellingham; his brothers Normand Couture and his partner JD of Providence RI, and David Couture and his wife Jeanette of Lisbon, CT. He also leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who affectionately called him “BTB” (Big Truck Bill), as well as many great friends.

Born in Biddeford, ME on April 4, 1960 he was the son of the late Gerard and Claire (Berube) Couture and moved to Bellingham at age 6. He was educated from the Bellingham Public School system and was a Graduate of Bellingham High School class of 1978. He has been a Northbridge resident the past 37 years. He spent many years as a truck driver both local and long haul. Bill worked for the former Anytime Delivery out of Milford, and Estes Express previously out of Framingham, until illness forced him to retirement.

Bill was a gentle giant. He had a great love for his family. His sense of humor and smile were unmatched. If you were around Bill, you couldn't help but be happy. Bill had a love for trains that had been instilled in him by his Pepe at a young age. I think he knew where every train crossing and tracks were everywhere in New England. He made many great friends through his train watching. He loved spending time with his family, camping especially at the Cape, fishing, and visiting his family members in Maine.

He faced each health crisis with bravery. He met each challenge head-on and cheated death many times. His family would like to thank the staff at Dana Farber Cancer Center in Milford for their outstanding care. He actually enjoyed going for treatments because he had made so many connections there over the years.

Peggy ~ Bill was the love of my life. I'll miss him forever. Rest in eternal peace. Until we meet again..
