Whitinsville- Walter J. Crawford, 81, passed away on Wed. April 13, 2022 after a period of declining health. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Arlene M. (Labrecque) Crawford
He is also survived by his 2 children, Nancy Crawford of Naples, FL and Michael Crawford and his wife Mia of Whitinsville; 3 grandchildren, Brendan, Ryan, and James; 2 great-grandsons, Beau and Colt; in-laws, Beverly Crawford of Worcester, Glory Crawford of Auburn, Alice Labrecque of Whitinsville, Beverly Labrecque of Rockledge, FL, and Sandra Woodcome and Sylvia Beaumont both of Whitinsville, and special cousins, Judith and Bob Burke of Milford; and many nieces and nephews. His son John Crawford passed away in 2011. He was brother of the late Hugh Crawford, Edward Crawford, and Julia Crawford-Miller.
Born in Worcester, MA on June 25, 1940 he was the son of Walter J. and Mary (Tringuk) Crawford and grew up in Worcester, graduating from Worcester Boy’s Trade. Mr. Crawford worked as a maintenance mechanic at GE Telechron in Ashland. He also worked several years for the Postal Service in Shrewsbury. He served in the US Army and in the Honor Guard for President Kennedy ‘s Inauguration.
Walter belonged to the Oliver Ashton American Legion and enjoyed bowling and golf over the years. His greatest joy however was attending his sons and grandson’s sporting events. He will be remembered as a kind and thoughtful man and will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
Per his wishes, Walter’s funeral will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
