Viola Paulhus Obituary

Northbridge- Viola Mae (Homenick) Paulhus, 84, formerly of Cooper Rd., passed away peacefully on Sun. July 28, 2024 with her family by her side, after a period of declining health. Her husband of 29 years, Robert J. Paulhus Sr., died Sept. 18, 1988.

     She is survived by two sons, Bob Paulhus Jr. and his, wife Pam of Ashland, and Brian J. Paulhus, and his wife Sue, of Whitinsville; 2 grandchildren, Brittany and her husband Brady Schartner, and Michael Paulhus. She was predeceased by her son, Michael J. Paulhus, on March 30, 1998. Born in Douglas, MA on December 2, 1939, Viola was the daughter of John J. and Helen E. (Bruno) Homenick and was raised in Douglas. She lived in Northbridge for 50 years and had been a resident of Waterview Lodge Rehab and Health Care in Ashland since last October.

     Widowed at the early age of 38, Viola was always a hard worker and a very dedicated daughter and mother. Her number one priority was always her family. Holiday gatherings were always something she cherished. In her early years, she was employed at State Mutual Insurance Co. in Worcester, and then Nelmor Co. in Uxbridge as an office manager. She also worked nights at Manchaug Mills. Prior to retiring she worked for Mary Parrotto at the Worcester Registry of Deeds for several years. She was a 1957 graduate of Douglas Memorial High School, attended Fisher College and earned her well-deserved Bachelor’s degree from Bryant University.

        A devoted member of St. Patrick’s Church, Viola loved her many pets over the years, especially Danka, Joe, Barry, and Michael’s dog Backer. She was a music enthusiast and attended many Barry Manilow, Rod Stewart, and Chicago concerts, with her granddaughter, Brittany, in tow for many of them.

     Her Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Fri. Aug. 2 at St. Patrick’s Church, 1 Cross St. Whitinsville. Burial will follow in St. Denis Cemetery in Douglas. Calling hours at Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St. Whitinsville are Fri. Aug. 2 from 9 to 11 am, prior to her funeral Mass.
