Linwood- Valerie (Duplessis) Vallee, 89, formerly of Providence Rd., passed away on Mon. Dec. 29, 2025, after a period of declining health. She was widowed in 1974 after the unfortunate death of her beloved husband, Albert Joseph Vallee Sr., with whom she shared five joyful years of marriage.
She is survived by her two children, A.J. Vallee and his wife Gina of Upton and Melodie C. Beighau and her husband Robert of Essex, CT; 4 grandchildren, Calliope Vallee, Gehrig Beighau, Reed Beighau, Luke Beighau; and a step grandson Christopher Galvao; a brother, Martin Duplessis and his wife Beverly of Otter River; a sister Anna Mary Durand and her husband Pierre of Charlton; a sister-in-law, Judy White of Weare, NH and many much loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by six brothers, Rev. Omer, Donald, Howard, Aldie, Rudolph, and Bertrand Duplessis; and four sisters, Florine Duplessis, Ruth Allard, Doris Meunier, and an infant sister Marie Duplessis.
Born in Gardner, MA, on July 22, 1936, Val was the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Cormier) Duplessis and was educated at Marie Joseph Academy in Biddeford, ME. At the age of 19, she joined the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary Order in Hudson, NH, and served 3 years as a missionary in the Philippines. Upon her return home, she attended Assumption College and taught Elementary School in Gardner. In 1968, she settled in Whitinsville and taught at St. Peter’s Church School in Rockdale.
Valerie was a talented musician, having played the piano since the age of 3. She was an organist and piano instructor for over 50 years. A woman of great faith, she was a former member of both Good Shepherd Church, and St. Mary’s Parish in Uxbridge where she served as their organist and music director. She had been living in Essex, CT for the past 2 years.
Her Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, at 11am in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 151 Mendon St., Upton. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Whitinsville. Calling hours in Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville will be held prior to her Mass from 8:30-10 AM.
