Whitinsville - Therese Cecile (Ouellette) Reneau Knapik, 94, passed away peacefully in Largo, FL where she had been living the past 20 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Powers of Southbridge; a step daughter, Susan Coombs Becker of Ridgefield, CT; and son-in-law, Thomas Armstrong of Northbridge. She was predeceased by her companion Wendell Coombs in 1989, husband Joseph Knapik in 2016 and her daughter, Louise B. “Weezy” Reneau in 2018. Born in S. Grafton on Dec. 8, 1926 she was the daughter of Leon and Marie Ouellette and lived many years in Whitinsville. She was the last survivor of 4 children, predeceased by her sister Muriel in 2020, sister Dolores in 2011 and brother Donald in 2012.
Terry graduated from David Hale Fanning Cosmetology School 1942. Terry owned the Blue Bird Beauty Shop in Whitinsville until she was 75 years of age. She also enjoyed teaching and doing seminars for Beauty Supply Companies including Zotos and Revlon.
Terry loved to read and loved to volunteer. She volunteered at the Largo Public Library Bookstore on Saturdays. She called the numbers for Bingo, sang karaoke, and until recently, was a member of the Senior Advisory Board at Largo Community Center. She loved going out to dinner with friends.
Therese’s graveside funeral service in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Whitinsville will be privately held at the convenience of her family. A celebration of her life will be held and announced later by her family when it’s safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, donations in Terry’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, in remembrance of her daughter Louise Reneau.
