Northbridge- Theresa L. “Terry” (Gay) Hetu, 92, of Riddlebrook Apts. formerly of Northbridge passed away on Sun. Sept. 25, 2022 after a short illness. Her husband of 56 years Leo J. Hetu died July 31, 2011.
She is survived by her 4 children Frederick E. Hetu and his wife Elaine of N. Smithfield, RI, Robert A. Hetu and his wife Linda of Rutland, David L. Hetu of Douglas, and Jacqueline L. Latino of Holden; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; her brother Frederick Gay of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Lawrence “Buddy” Gay, Mary Frick, and Margaret Hall. Born in Worcester, MA on April 27, 1930 she was the daughter of Frederick J. and Loretta (Cannon) Gay and was raised in Worcester and lived in Northbridge most of her life. She had been a resident of Riddlebrook Apts. in Douglas the past 8 years.
Terry worked as a certified nursing assistant at St. Vincent Hospital and St. Camillus Nursing Home for many years. She also worked for the Oxford Senior Center as a nutrition consultant and volunteered for their Meals on Wheels program. A very outgoing woman, Terry was a warm, genuine, and helpful person. She enjoyed dining out, traveling, shopping, and playing scrabble. Terry had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a hand. She was always upbeat, positive and enjoyed every single day. She had great faith and was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Church where she volunteered often, especially with their Bereavement Ministry. Terry will be remembered as one-of-a-kind woman who will be missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
Her funeral will be held on Thurs. Sept. 29th from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St. Whitinsville with a Mass at 10 am in St. Peter’s Church, 25 Church Ave. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wed. Sept. 28th from 4 to 7 pm. Donations in Terry’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
