Mendon- Susan M. (Manstream) Ethier, 64, of Asylum St. passed away on Friday July 12, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years Joseph A. Ethier; two daughters Rebecca M. Eland and her husband Travis of Hopedale and Jocelyn F. Brant and her husband Jeremy of N. Smithfield, RI; two sons Joseph A. Ethier Jr. and Daniel M. Ethier both of San Jose, CA; her mother Virginia M. (Piorkowski) Manstream with whom she also lived; six beloved grandchildren Nora, Isaac, Addison, Jovie, Jonah, and Josephine; her sister Kathleen Manstream of Long Island, NY; two brothers David T. Manstream of Queens, NY and Steven M. Manstream of Milford; her mother-in-law Charlotte (Benoit) Ethier of Vero Beach, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Born in Bad Kreuznach, Germany on November 24, 1959 she was daughter of the late Arthur C. Manstream Jr. and was raised in CT and Upton. She lived in Mendon for 38 years.
An educator, Sue was a first and second grade teacher at Milford Catholic Elementary School for 14 years, and later a substitute teacher at Our Lady of the Valley Regional School. A graduate of Nipmuc High School, she earned a degree from Assumption College in Psychology and Education. She was an active member of St. Mary Parish. Skilled in sewing, she could make anything and did so for everyone she loved. She enjoyed tending her flower beds and vegetable garden, keeping the many birds fed in her yard, and raising chickens. Her chocolate chip cookies were legendary. She enjoyed the Boston Red Sox, watching Jeopardy on television, and bicycling around town with her husband Joe. She was smart, practical, and steadfast in her beliefs. Above all else, her family and faith meant everything to her. Susan will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Her Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday July 17 at 10 am in St. Mary Church, 77 Mendon St. Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours at Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd. Uxbridge are Tuesday July 16 from 5 to 7 pm.
