Uxbridge- Shirley A. (Ross) Griffith, 83, formerly of East Hartford Ave., passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, after a period of declining health. She was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Francis Griffith who died in 2015.
She is survived by 6 children, Steven Demery and his wife Lori of Conway, SC, Brenda Goglia of Danielson, CT, Michael Demery and his wife Irma of Blackstone, David Beaudreau and his wife Robin of Uxbridge, Edward Hryzan and his wife Sandra of Northbridge, and Sandra Marcotte and her husband Steven of Woonsocket, RI; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two on the way, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Cheryl Beaudreau; her son-in-law, Jeffrey Goglia; 3 brothers, Joseph, Marcel, and George Ross, and 2 sisters, Lorraine Lavallee and Eva Thurber.
Shirley was born in Uxbridge on August 11, 1942, the daughter of Exziphir and Annette (Savage) Ross, and was raised in Uxbridge. She was educated at the former Good Shepherd School and in the Uxbridge public school system. Mrs. Griffith worked as a weaver at Stanley Woolen Mills and later worked for several years as a direct caregiver for special needs clients at The Ledges in Hopedale. She had previously been employed by General Electric in Ashland.
Shirley enjoyed crocheting and sewing, playing cards—especially Scat—bingo, and taking occasional trips to the casino. She was an avid cat lover and especially enjoyed the companionship of her beloved cat, Binx. Above all, she loved her family deeply and treasured the time she spent with them.
Her Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 12:30 PM in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Granite St., Uxbridge. A celebration of her life will follow.
