Sheila Ann (Scully) Parks, formally of New London, CT, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2023 at her home in Douglas, MA, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her husband of 48 years, Gary Blanchard Parks of New London, CT predeceased her in 2012.
Sheila is survived by her daughter Deborah (Parks) Durkin and her husband John Durkin of Douglas MA; her son Brian P. Parks and his wife Kelly Parks of Bridgeville, DE; 4 grandchildren, who were the joys of her life, Kaleigh Durkin of Framingham, MA, Allyson Durkin of Johnston, RI, Patrick Durkin of Ballston Spa, NY and Brady Parks, of Plymouth, MA. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael A. Parks of Montville, CT in 2003.
Sheila was born on November 14, 1943 in New London CT, the daughter of the late Patrick J. Scully and Julia Agnes (Morgan) Scully. Sheila was the youngest of 6 siblings, who all preceded her in death; Mary Ellen Driscoll, Patricia J. Grant, Beverly A. Rogers, James P. Scully and Robert M. Scully.
Sheila was employed with Dunkin Donuts in Waterford, CT for many years, and made many friends along the way. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and also enjoyed spending time in her garden, and building puzzles. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Dana Farber Cancer Center and Brigham and Women's Hospitals in Milford, MA, for their caring knowledge and support. They would also like to thank Salmon Hospice for their assistance and compassion throughout this journey.
There are no calling hours. Sheila will be laid to rest alongside her husband on June 10th at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Cemetery, on Jefferson Ave in New London, CT.
