Whitinsville- Sharon R. (Duclos) Tankis, 80, of Elm St. passed away Wed. July 9, 2025 at home after a long illness. Her beloved husband of 43 years John C. “Jack” Tankis passed away Dec. 2, 2007.
She is survived by her 3 children Julie A. and her husband David Bouthillette of Whitinsville, Christopher Tankis and his companion Jessica McCarthy of Pocasset, and Rodney Tankis of Whitinsville; 2 brothers Patrick G. Duclos and his wife Cindy in Florida and Brian R. Duclos and his wife Beverly of Sutton; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her faithful dog Rosie. She was sister of the late Robert J. Duclos and Diana G. Seale. Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 26, 1945, Sharon was daughter of the late Elmer J. “Red” and Lillian A. (Graveson) Duclos, and lived in Whitinsville over 50 years.
Mrs. Tankis was primarily a homemaker, caring for her husband and children. She also was employed for Catholic Charities in Whitinsville and was a Teacher’s Assistant for Northbridge Public schools. Over the years she was involved with the Girl Scouts, and the Women’s Guild at St. Patrick’s Church where she also taught CCD. Her hobbies included making cards for special occasions, gardening, cooking, baking, taking trips to Cape Cod, and following the Red Sox. Spending time with her family was most important to Sharon, however. She was a kind and affectionate wife, a great mother, and a friend to all.
Her Funeral Mass will be held Wed. July 16 at 11 am in St. Patrick’s Church, 1 Cross St. Calling hours at Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St. are Wed. July 16 from 9 to 10:30 am. Burial will be next to her husband Jack in the VA National Cemetery in Bourne on Thurs. July 17 at 1:45pm. There will be no procession to the cemetery, however we ask that you arrive eary at 1:30pm. The service will begin promptly at 1:45 pm.
