Linwood – Scott G. Albin, 56, of School Park, was stricken ill and passed away on Friday, June 27th, in Maine, surrounded by nature and close friends on a rafting trip that reflected his adventurous spirit.
He is survived by his parents, Leo J. Albin and Pauline T. (Labrecque) Albin of Linwood; his sister Tina (Albin) King and her husband Shawn King of Clover, SC; his niece Avery King; nephew Shane Jacobson; great-niece Emerson Ripka; and countless friends who will miss his laugh, loyalty, and fearless spirit.
Born in Woonsocket, RI, on October 31, 1968, Scott grew up in Northbridge, where he attended the Northbridge public schools. From a young age, he demonstrated a strong work ethic and natural skill in building and craftsmanship. Scott spent much of his career as a self-employed residential home builder, building homes and helping make people’s dreams come true—one beam, board, and frame at a time. His work stands as a lasting legacy in the lives of the families he built for and the communities he touched.
Scott was deeply passionate about whitewater rafting and the outdoors. A thrill-seeker with a reverence for nature, he earned a Level 5 Advanced Rafting certification. Over the years, Scott instructed and guided countless people on rivers, sharing both his expertise and his deep love for the water. Some of his favorite places to raft included the Grand Canyon, the Dead River, and the Penobscot River, but his favorite was the Kennebec River. Whether navigating rushing rapids or introducing others to the thrill of the river, Scott felt most at home on the water.
Scott’s life was one of courage, connection, and constant motion. He lived boldly, gave generously, and inspired others to embrace life’s adventures. His legacy will forever flow through the lives he touched—like the rivers he loved so much.
As to Scott’s wishes, his family and friends will celebrate his life privately.
