Upton- Russell Walter Schofield Sr., 93, went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife  Kathleen (Marshall) Schofield, his children Jacqueline Schofield Napekoski, Russell W. Schofield Jr., Laura Schofield Ashworth, Elizabeth Schofield Berkowitz, Paul Schofield, Bill Schofield, and Dave Schofield, Russell had 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren that lovingly called him “Papa”; his sister, Alice (Schofield) Blood, as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was husband of the late Mary Anne Wood Schofield, and brother of the late James F. Schofield, Elaine (Schofield) Randall, Marilyn (Schofield) Rohdin.

Born on August 12, 1932, in Brockton, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Walter F. Schofield and Josephine Marie (Kelleher) Schofield, Russell was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and his family. He had a loving spirit and a witty sense of humor. Russ attended Bristol County Agricultural School, where he graduated valedictorian of his class. On January 30, 1954, he married Mary Anne (Wood) Schofield. They were married for thirty-three years and had seven children together.

In his early thirties, Russ gave his life to Christ and became a member of The Evangelical Congregational Church of Easton, where he raised his family. He served the Lord as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and member of the church choir. He traveled to Swaziland, Africa and Costa Rica on mission trips with his church.  During his career, he worked for Caterpillar and Lewis & Boyle as a diesel heavy equipment mechanic.

On August 28, 1993, he married Kathleen (Marshall) Schofield and they lived most of their thirty-two years of marriage together in Waldoboro, Maine. Five years ago, they sold their home and moved back to Massachusetts to be close to family. In July of 2025, the last six months of his life, Russ lived with Jessica Plumer at her home under the direction of his wonderful nurses at Ascend Hospice Care whom he charmed every day.

He loved his tractor collection, his camp in Milo, Maine, fishing with his children and grandchildren, gardening, and taking care of his animals, especially his beloved Molly.
