Millville- Roland J. Gravel, 78, of Fisher St. passed away peacefully on Tues. June 1, 2021 at home after an illness.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeanne C. (Frenchette) Gravel; his 4 children, Ronald E. Gravel and his fiancé Deborah of Brooklyn, CT, Rowland G. Gravel and his wife Danyelle of Harrisville, Eric R. Gravel and his wife Judith Ann of Pascoag, and Stacy J. Gravel of Harrisville; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Yvette Tiffany of Largo, FL; 2 brothers, Edgar Gravel of Barnstead, NH and Robert Gravel of Warwick; and several nieces and nephews. Born in Woonsocket, RI on August 22, 1942 he grew up in N. Smithfield and lived 55 years in Millville.
Mr. Gravel worked many years as an Electrican in the Maintenance Dept. for Fenwall Co. in Milford, retiring in 2001. Educated at St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Milford, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Iceland. Always artistic, he was a talented painter, and loved to create woodcarvings. He painted over 60 paintings at his Cancer Center for patients. They were always signed “You are never alone”.
Roland good spirited with a nice sense of humor. He loved singing, dancing, spending time in Florida and Cape Cod, gardening and just being in his yard or outside in general. A man of Faith, he was active teaching CCD, making Rosary Beads, and planning May Processions at St. Augustine and St. Mary’s Church.
