Linwood- Roland A. Brochu, 85, of School Park in the Linwood section of Northbridge passed away on Tues. June 13, 2023 after an illness.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Cora F. (Fontaine) Brochu; his three children Stephen R. “Nipper” Brochu of Irmo, SC, Brian J. Brochu of Redfield, SD, and Brenda L. Knapik of Northbridge; six grandchildren Courtney A. Brochu of Columbia, SC, Joseph R. Brochu of Irmo, SC, Brianna J. Voeller of Soux Falls SD, Jillian C. Witte of Brookings, SD, Samuel J. Knapik of Northbridge, and Dr. Laura O. Knapik of Portland ME; four great-grandchildren Peter Voeller, Chris Voeller, Jeremiah Hovey, and Ryker Hovey all of South Dakota; two brothers Richard D. Brochu of Kissimmee, FL, and Ernest E. Brochu of Northbridge; a sister Lorraine M. Duso of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Claire E. Longton, Rita L. Radzik, Germaine T. Kloczkowski, and Henry J. Brochu.
Born in Uxbridge, MA on August 20, 1937, Roland was the son of Joseph W. and Irene (Poudrier) Brochu. He was raised in North Uxbridge and lived in Linwood most of his life. He worked as a Tool Maker for Fenwall Corp. in Framingham and Milford for many years. Educated at the Good Shepherd School and Worcester Boy’s Trade, he was a member of Good Shepherd Church and recently St. Mary’s Church. He enjoyed going to the Northbridge Senior Center and was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He was also a life member of the Uxbridge Rod and Gun Club.
Roland’s family would like to thank Dr. Richard Wholey, Dr. Paul Dufault, and Dr. David Shepro as well as the nurses and staff in the ICU at St. Vincent Hospital. Their care was exceptional.
His Memorial Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, 71 Mendon St. Uxbridge will be held on Friday September 8, 2023 at 10 am. Cremation burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
