Born in Leominster, MA on March 8, 1938, Bob was the son of Donalda L. (Chartrand) and Raymond Richard. He was raised in Leominster, educated in public schools there, and was a longtime resident of Uxbridge. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, he joined the military in 1955, and served four years during the Vietnam Era aboard the USS Walke, then remained in the active reserves until 1963. He served as a reserve officer with Northbridge police for several years in the 1960's.
Bob worked for many years as a foreman for General Motors in Framingham before his retirement in 1990. He continued to work part time at Sanibel Harbor Resort and Spa and later as a livery driver for Royal Floridian Transportation, both in Fort Myers.
Bob and Alice spent many winters in Fort Myers. He maintained a thirst for learning, was an avid reader, and devoted to the History and similar discovery channels. Bob was a friendly man who enjoyed the company of others and making small talk. He was a good and kind man who will be sorely missed.
His family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at Dana-Farber Cancer Center and Brigham and Women's Hospital both in Milford and Boston for all of their compassionate care and support.
Bob's memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, September 17th from noon to 1 p.m. in Tancrell- Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Road, Uxbridge.
