Uxbridge- Robert M. Haley, 86, of Douglas St. passed away on Sat. Aug. 19, 2023 at Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge after an illness. His wife of 61 years, Pauline M. (Gervais) Haley died July 13, 2020.
He is survived by his son James M. Haley and his wife Lisa of Uxbridge; 3 grandchildren, Madison P. Haley, Sean M. Haley, and Wayne Tucker and his wife Khaelan; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson Patrick J. Haley in 2016, and was brother of the late Francis Dion, Eleanor Gengel and William Haley. Born in Northbridge, MA on Jan 26, 1937 he was the son of William E. and Etta (Rawson) Haley. He was raised in Rockdale and lived 64 years in Uxbridge.
Mr. Haley worked as a Court Officer at the Uxbridge District Court for 23 years, retiring in 2000. He then worked several years as a custodian for Savers Bank in Uxbridge. In his younger days Bob was a truck driver for St. Johnsbury Trucking. A graduate of Northbridge High School, Bob was a U.S. Army Korean Conflict Veteran serving as a Staff Sergeant in Germany. He was a member of VFW Post 1385 and the Uxbridge Democratic Town Committee. He volunteered for many election campaigns including Senator Richard Moore, and State Reps Richard Neil, and Paul Kujawski. He was a longtime faithful member of member of St. Mary Parish and loved taking day trips and going on vacations with his family.
His funeral will be Wed. Aug. 23 at 10 am in St. Mary Church, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours at Tancrell Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd. will be Tues. Aug. 22 from 5 to 7 PM.
