Rita B. (Laporte) Brooks

Northbridge- Rita B. (Laporte) Brooks, 76, of Cooper Rd. passed away at home on Tues. July 4, 2023 after an illness. Her family was by her side.

     She is survived by her husband of 54 years David L. Brooks; her daughter Tammy A. Smith and her husband Jeff with whom she lived; 2 grandsons Kyle Smith and Kevin Smith; a brother Roger Laporte of Linwood; a sister Marie Anger of E. Hartford, CT; several nieces and nephews; and her August Ceramic’s family. She was sister of the late Ernest “Cy” Laporte and Theresa “Terry” Babineau. 

     Born in Whitinsville,MA on Aug. 25, 1946,  Rita was the daughter of Emile and Marie Ange (Gazaille) Laporte. She was raised in Uxbridge and over the years lived in Northbridge, Upton, and Kissimmee, FL after retirement. She was educated at the Good Shepherd School and Uxbridge High School, Class of 1964.

     Mrs. Brooks worked painting hand crafted ceramic products for August Ceramics in Uxbridge. Previously she was employed in the parts department of Chabot Motors in Millbury and ISI Computer Labeling Co. in Whitinsville. She also worked several years for Park Services at Seaworld in Florida.

     A great wife, mom, and grandmother, Rita always placed her family first. She especially loved spending time with her grandsons. She enjoyed crafts, painting, and bowled in the Sparetime League in Grafton and Whitinsville in her younger years. Her family would like to thank the Salmon Family Hospice for their compassionate care.

     According to Rita’s wishes, funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of her family. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton.
