Richard Garrity Obituary

Uxbridge- Richard Denis Garrity, 76, of Cross St. passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 13, 2022 after an illness.
     He is survived by his four brothers, John W. “Jack” Garrity, William F. Garrity and his wife Lisa, and Gerald A. Garrity all of Uxbridge, and Robert M. Garrity of Whitinsville; a niece, Candace Brothers; a great-niece Emma Brothers; and several cousins. Born in Woonsocket, RI on June 6, 1945, he was son of the late William F. Sr. and Mary M. (Connors) Garrity and lived in Uxbridge all his life.
     Mr. Garrity worked as a Career Librarian at the Worcester Public Library. Educated at St. Mary’s Central Catholic High School, Class of ‘63, Providence College Class of ‘67 with a degree in Sociology, he earned his Master’s Degree in Library Science at the University of Michigan.
     Always an academic, Dick was well traveled and enjoyed the fine arts. The popular venue Radio City Music Hall, in Rockefeller Center was a favorite place of his. He liked classic movies, cooking, and dining out. A reserved, quiet, and deeply religious man, Dick was a member of St. Mary’s Church all his life.
     His funeral will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may be made to: Salmon VNA & Hospice, 37 Birch St. Milford, MA 01757.
