Peggy McKoan, 77, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, at AdviniaCare Northbridge. She was raised in Grafton and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Priscilla (Roberts) McKoan. She is survived by her brother, Thomas McKoan, and his wife, Suzanne Paul, of Harrisville, Rhode Island.
Peggy was an intelligent and engaging person whose warmth and charm made her an instant friend to those who met her. She graduated with top honors from Notre Dame Academy in Worcester, Massachusetts. She later attended Quinsigamond Community College and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she earned her nursing degree.
During her younger years, Peggy traveled throughout the United States, embracing the spirit and experiences of the 1960s. She eventually settled in North Carolina, where she maintained a home and small farm for several years. Peggy had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved dog and companion, Ollie. She also enjoyed gardening, horseback riding, and spending time outdoors.
Peggy was always willing to help others and dedicated time to volunteer work with the Red Cross, including traveling to Louisiana to assist in relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina.
Later in life, Peggy returned to New England and resided at Quabbin Estates in Hardwick, Massachusetts, where she formed many valued friendships. In her final year, she was a resident at AdviniaCare Northbridge. Peggy faced many challenges throughout her life, but she met them with determination and resilience.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Brookhaven Hospice and AdviniaCare Northbridge for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Peggy.
