Millville- Norman Alexander Thuot, 88, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Norman is survived by his wife Carol (McCue) Thuot with whom he shared 57 wonderful married years; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Tara Thuot of Estero, FL; brother and sister-in-law’s, Joseph and Pauline McCue of Uxbridge. He was predeceased by a sister, Claire Demas. Born in Pawtucket, RI on August 11, 1934, he was the son of Rodrique and Gertrude (Casey) Thuot, and grew up in Pawtucket.
Norman was a 1952 graduate of LaSalle Academy in Providence, RI where he earned All-State hockey honors his senior season and was a key member of LaSalle’s 1952 New England High School Championship Hockey Team. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War era, and was part of the original crew to commission the USS Manley in 1957, and the only crew member to attend the 1983 de-commissioning ceremony of the USS Manley in Newport, RI. He was a longtime member of VFW Post 1385 in Uxbridge, MA.
Norman worked as a Senior Casualty Claims Adjuster for the Allstate Insurance Company for 30 years until his retirement in 1994. During his working career he served as Chairman of the Providence Arbitration Committee and the RI Insurance Arbitration Forums. Norman was a 57 year resident of Millville, Massachusetts serving the town in numerous capacities. He served as a member and Chairman of the Millville Finance Committee (1972-1984), served 9 years as Town Constable (2012-2021) and was a trustee for the Millville Veterans Memorial Park. A man of great faith, he was a former CCD teacher at St. Augustine's Parish in Millville.
Norman enjoyed coaching youth hockey in North Smithfield, RI and baseball for the Millville Little League. Norman took pride in caring for the family property, loved his pet dogs over the years, and enjoyed the fellowship of his neighbors.
Norman's memorial funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 10AM in St. Mary’s Church, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Marys Cemetery.
