Nicholas Colonero Jr. Obituary

Douglas- Nicholas Anthony Colonero Jr., 71, of Charles St. passed away at home on Monday, October 14, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.

     He is survived by 3 sons, Nicholas P. Colonero and William P. Colonero both of Douglas, and Jeremy P. Colonero and his wife Nicole of Los Angeles, CA; 2 sisters, Linda A. Catusi and her husband Phil of Douglas, and Anne-Marie Colonero and her companion Richard Brown of Uxbridge; his longtime partner Maralin Locke of Conception Bay South, Newfoundland, Canada, as well as several cousins, nephews, and nieces.

     Born in Whitinsville on April 20, 1953, he was the son of Nicholas A. Sr. and M. Antoinette (Goyette) Colonero and lived in Douglas all his life. He was a graduate of Douglas High School, Class of 1971 and  Worcester Industrial Technical Institute, Class of 1973, where he attained a degree in drafting. He worked for Electric Boat in Quonset, RI and Groton, CT as a draftsman for nuclear submarines for 19 years. Later he worked as a postal courier for the U.S. Postal Service, Worcester branch, retiring due to illness in 2012.

     Nick enjoyed going to air shows, car shows, and visiting antique shops. An avid sports fan favoring baseball, he had a wide knowledge of the sport and players. He even coached his kid’s teams when they were growing up. He liked to cook and enjoyed making new recipes. He also loved visiting his partner Maralin in Canada, and watching Westerns.

     His family would like to thank the staff of Care Central VNA’s employees Holly, Kelsey, and Pam, his neighbor Abraham and the Rodas family for the support shown to Nick during his illness.

     His funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19th at 12 noon in Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St., Douglas. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10-12.
