Douglas- Nancy J. Parker, 72, of Bedford, MA, formerly of Douglas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 after a long illness.
She is survived by her brother Alfred “Doug” Parker and his wife Priscilla of Douglas; her sister Deborah Oleksy and her husband Stanley of Dennisport MA; 3 nieces; and a nephew.
Born in Northbridge, MA on September 29, 1952, Nancy was daughter of the late Robert and Carolyn (Balcome) Parker and lived at the Community Living Center on the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital Campus
for 25 years. Previously she lived in Lowell and was raised in Douglas.
A graduate of Douglas Memorial High School, Class of 1970, she was a graduate of Quinsigamond Community College, and then earned her BA Degree from Worcester State University. In college, she sang in the choir and was a member of the Chess Club.
Nancy was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Woman’s Air Corps during the Vietnam Conflict. She served as a Staff Sergeant and an Administrative Specialist for the Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama. She liked poetry, painting, music, the beach, and playing the piano. Her faith was important to her and she was a member of the Cardinal Newman Society
Her Memorial Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 29 at 11 am in Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St. Douglas. Calling hours prior to the service will be held in the funeral home from 9 to 11 am. Burial will be privately held at a later date in Acotes Hill Cemetery in Chepachet, RI.
