Whitinsville- Milton E. Patnode, 93, of Plummer Park passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at UMass University Campus after a period of declining health. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Esther R. (Dantino) Patnode.
He is also survived by his son Milton Frank Patnode of Douglas; 2 daughters, Debbie Ann Zimmerman of Palm Coast, FL, and Jean Marie Romeiro and her husband John of Babson Park, FL; 4 grandchildren, Tina Patnode, Heidi Georges, Shawn Zimmerman, and Miranda Romeiro; 5 great-grandchildren, CJ Beauvais, Calvin Aia, Addison Trottier, Mia Minichiello, and Atavia Georges; a brother, Thomas Patnode of Northbridge; sisters, Theresa Lequesne of Douglas, and Joyce Jacobs of Linwood, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Francis Milton Trottier, and siblings, Shirley Patnode, Raymond Patnode Jr., and Robert Patnode.
Born in Coventry, RI on May 14, 1931 he was the son of Raymond Sr., and Mildred (Blair) Patnode and has been a lifelong resident of Northbridge. Milton worked as a union carpenter for the carpenter’s union local 537. He worked there 50 years before his retirement in 1990. He was a proud U.S Army veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in both Korea and Japan. He was a member of the former Oliver Ashton American Legion Post, and Knights of Columbus council 365 in Whitinsville. He enjoyed working in his yard, tending to his gardens where he grew enormous vegetables, and taking on woodworking projects around the home. He was a true jack of all trades and a master of one, carpentry. A selfless man, he always offered to lend a hand to anyone in need. Milton was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Church.
A combined Funeral Mass honoring both Milton and Esther will be held on Friday, June 28th at 10AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville MA 01588. Their burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers donations in Milton’s memory may be made to St. Patrick’s Church renovation fund, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville MA 01588.
