Douglas- Michael A. Simpson, 63, of Gilboa St., passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 after a period of declining health.
He was predeceased by his life partner and best friend of 34 years, David J. Stebbins in 2023. He is survived by his sister Debbie Currere of Roswell, GA; his niece Christina Currere, his nephew, Christopher Currere and his great niece Liliana Currere along with his best friend and mentor John Frost of Sterling, and many other special friends including Sue Hubbard and her husband Steve of Auburn, and Brittaney Tourtellotte of CT. Michael also had many dear friends and associates with his various club affiliations.He was also preceded in death by his brother Clint Simpson.
Born in Seaford, Long Island, NY on November 25, 1961 he was the son of Clinton and Eleanor (Benoit) Simpson. He was brought up and educated in Elizabeth City, NC. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard aboard the USCG cutter Dallas where he traveled to the Arctic Circle. He has been a resident of Douglas ,Massachuestts for 40+ years.Over the years, Michael worked as a line chef for the Beechwood Inn and Hotel in Worcester, he also ran the kitchen at Brookdale Eddy Pond in Auburn, Ma. He also worked for the Shops at Blackstone Valley in both their cinema and at Longhorn SteakHouse.
Michael was an avid animal lover. His pets over the years included cats, guinea pigs and assorted reptiles. He had a passion for cooking and loved trying new recipes. He was a man of great faith and was a spiritual leader and celebrant for many years.
Michael's entombment will be held in Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster St., Worcester on Wednesday, April 30th at 11 am with full military honors.
