Whitinsville- Michael D. Horan, 66, of Heritage Dr., passed away on Mon., December 19, 2022 at Milford Regional Medical Center after health complications.
He is survived by 4 siblings, James “Jay” Horan Jr. of Alexandria, VA, Mary Beth Alix of Whitinsville, MA, Anne Fowler of Ipswich, MA, Margaret Lacouture of Dover, NH; nieces and nephews, Robert Alix Jr., Stefanie Bullio, Holly Michniewicz, Roger Fowler Jr., Evelyn Fowler, Rose Lacouture, M. Crawford Horan, Cecilia Mary, Lacouture, and Jack Lacouture; grand-nieces and nephews, Harper, Piper, Roger III, Raegan, Marc Jr., Robbie, Reese, Joseph, Tommy, and Charley, as well as many cousins, and good friends. Born in Whitinsville, MA, on July 15, 1956 he was son of the late Dr. James and Mary (Deane) Horan and was raised in Whitinsville. He was predeceased by his Godmother Helen Sughrue, his cousin Neil Horan, and brother-in-law, Robert Alix.
Mike was a graduate of Worcester Academy and earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Assumption College in Social Rehab. He worked as an Admissions Counselor for Western New England University many years until his retirement in 2014. He travelled the world through his career recruiting which he loved. He had been a resident of Heritage Dr. the past 9 years and previously lived in Monson and West Springfield.
Mike enjoyed travelling, he often visited his friends in Florida and California, and made frequent visits to St. Joseph Abbey’s in Spencer for services. He enjoyed spending time with his family at “the Camp” on Whitin Reservoir, and finding unique gifts for friends and family members in gift shops. He was generous with his many nieces and nephews, and always brought his dry wit and a sweet treat with him. Michael was a great man and he loved his family dearly and always made everyone feel special.
His Memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Thurs. Dec. 29th at 10:30 am in St. Patrick’s Church, 1 Cross St. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
