Whitinsville- Mary I. “Punkin” (Dumont) Renault, 73, passed away peacefully at her home on Fri., Jan. 2, 2026, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond W. Renault, who died in 2016, after 14 years of marriage.

She was also predeceased by her sister Rita Mayotte and brother Thomas Dumont.

Born in Worcester on September 8, 1952, she was the daughter of Victor E. and Mary (Roberge) Dumont, and lived most of her life in Whitinsville. She was a graduate of Northbridge High School class of 1970, and furthered her education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Worcester State University. Mrs. Renault worked for Hanover Ins. Co. out of Worcester for 50 years, until her retirement in 2021.

Mary was a woman of deep faith and a longtime parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in Rockdale. She was very active within the parish and found great joy in volunteering for church activities, especially helping with the annual holiday bazaar. She was also a devoted member of the prayer shawl group, and was a member of the Blackstone Valley Quilters Guild.

A natural caretaker, Mary lovingly cared for her mother for many years before her passing and later devoted herself to caring for her husband, Raymond, during his illness. She was also an avid bingo player, and played weekly at the Knights of Columbus in town.

Known for her positive spirit, she had a contagious laugh and a warm smile that could brighten any room.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at the UMass University Campus ACC Building for their kindness, friendship, and compassionate support shown to Mary over the years.
