Whitinsville- Mary J. (Grabiec) Gudanowski, 94, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2018 in hospice care at Beaumont Nursing Home in Northbridge, with her loving husband of 71 years, Floyd A. Gudanowski by her side, also a Beaumont resident.
Mary is also survived by her daughter, Beverly Huggins and son-in-law Dean of Uxbridge; her beloved granddaughter, Anna Huggins of Uxbridge and Providence, R.I.; her beloved Niece, Carol Makowski; also nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Mary was born on County Street in Blackstone, MA on September 17, 1924 to Thomas and Katherine (Ruta) Grabiec. She was predeceased by her brother, Johnny, and sisters Sophie Zajac and Veronica Makowski. Mary graduated from Blackstone High School in 1942. Mary met her beloved husband, Floyd, during his short leave from the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. Floyd gave her an engagement ring before he returned to the Pacific. After World War II, they married in 1947. During her working career Mary was associated with Finklestein Products in Woonsocket, R.I., Tupperware of Blackstone, and Ethyl Corporation of Grafton, MA. She was a personnel manager for many years and hired many employees during her years with Ethyl. In her retirement, she provided daycare to her granddaughter and made many beautiful quilts for her family.
Her funeral home service will be held on Fri. Dec. 28th in Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville at 11am. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
