Mary A (Steele) Costa

Mary A. (Steele) Costa, 91, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Albert J. Costa, in October of 2009.

Mary was born in Provincetown, MA, the daughter of Frank D. and Dorothea E. (Gray) Steele.

She is survived by her four children: Maria G. Tringuk and her husband Paul, Richard A. Costa, Dorothea E. Galas and her husband Gary, and Kristin A. DeJong and her husband Daren, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Mary was a woman of great faith, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be remembered as a lifelong caregiver, always putting her family first. Mary enjoyed shopping, knitting, ceramics, and especially loved walking with family and friends.

Her beautiful smile and charming spirit will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. For those of us who loved her, every day will be a celebration of the love and light she brought into our lives. Her passing will leave a gap in the hearts of many.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Notre Dame Long Term Care Center and the medical professionals in the Critical Care Unit at UMass Memorial Medical Center for their attentive and compassionate care.
