Northbridge - Mario J. Saster, 41, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November, 3, 2021, surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mario is survived by his former wife Patty, and his beloved children, Angelina and Dylan. Mario was most proud of his children and enjoyed all the time they spent together. Mario also leaves his step children Matt and Donald, as well as his father Frank Saster, Aunt Mary and Uncle Neal Riley, Aunt Loy Riley, Aunt Laureen Riley-Feinman, good friend Joshua Schlegel, mother-in-law Diane Deorsey, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Susan in 2018.
Mario grew up in the Whitinsville, Millbury and Auburn areas, and graduated from Auburn High School. He went on to serve in the United States Navy. Mario's career included a variety of occupations, from cook, to plumbing, to furniture manufacturing.
Mario loved his music. He often played his guitar, on which he was self taught. He also played the piano. Some of his favorite artists were Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Dylan and the Beatles. Mario was a fervent fan of the New York Yankees, as was his mom. He would often be seen wearing his Yankees' cap. Not easy in Red Sox Nation! Mario was a kind and well liked individual with a great sense of humor, always ready with a joke. His humor brought a smile to everyone he met. Without humor, he said, the world would be a dark and gloomy place. He touched the lives of all those he knew. We hope he is now at peace. He will be greatly missed!
Mario's Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021at the Uxbridge VFW Post 1385, 13 Cross St., Uxbridge MA from 5-6 PM with a service at 6PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Mario Saster Childrens Memorial Fund c/o Millbury Federal Credit Union, 377 Providence Rd., South Grafton, MA 01560.
