Marie A. Frabotta

Marie A. Frabotta, age 66, of New Bedford, formerly of Uxbridge, passed away peacefully at her residence on September 19, 2025.

She is survived by her aunt, Virginia Desjourdy of Hopedale; and her special friend, Wayne Ramos of New Bedford, as well as many cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Nicholas Frabotta Jr., and her sister, Nancy Frabotta. She was also the sister of Michael Frabotta.

Born on February 26, 1959, Marie was the daughter of the late Theresa (Desjourdy) Frabotta and the late Nicholas Frabotta Sr. She was a graduate of Uxbridge High School and went on to further her education at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, graduating in 1985. Marie was employed for several years by Tempus Unlimited, Inc., an organization dedicated to supporting children and adults with disabilities in living as independently as possible in the least restrictive environment.

Marie was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and rarely missed a game. From an early age, she faced life’s challenges with strength, determination, and an unwaveringly positive attitude. Her courage and strong will enabled her to live independently, and those who knew her admired her honesty, resilience, and quiet determination. She never complained and always greeted others with a warm smile.

At her college graduation, Marie was offered the option to receive her diploma while seated; however, she chose instead to walk across the stage with the aid of her canes. Her determination was met with a standing ovation from the entire audience—an unforgettable moment that reflected the way she lived her life.

Indeed, because of the grace, courage, and dignity with which Marie lived, she deserves another standing ovation.

A graveside service will be held in the Spring, with a date to be announced, in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Uxbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
