N. Uxbridge- Marie E. (DiRienzo) Colonero, 98, formerly of N. Main St., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Her husband of 58 years, Raymond J. Colonero Sr. died October 30, 2010.
She is survived by her son Raymond Colonero Jr. of Casco, Maine; 2 daughters, Doreen Scavone and her husband Charles of Narragansett, RI, and Karen Ellis and her husband Kyle of Hope Valley, RI; 6 grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Charles, Jack, Nira, Olivia, and Max; 8 great-grandchildren; her sister Doris Calarese of Narragansett, RI; and many nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Katherine “Kate” Colonero, Rita Cogliandro, and John DiRienzo, and was recently predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Deborah Colonero.
Born in Milford on January 17, 1927, she was the daughter of Dominic and Anna (Romasco) DiRienzo. She was educated in the Uxbridge Public School System and graduated from Uxbridge High School with the Class of 1944. She later continued her studies at Becker Secretarial School. Mrs. Colonero was employed by Mass Electric as a secretary prior to starting her family, at which time she devoted herself to raising her children. She later worked as a cafeteria aide for the Uxbridge Public School System until her retirement.
A woman of deep faith and a devoted Catholic, Marie was a former parishioner of Good Shepherd Church, where she was actively involved in parish life and served in the bereavement ministry. Following the church’s closing, she became a parishioner of St. Mary Parish. Marie found joy in simple pleasures—playing cards, preparing wonderful Italian meals, including her homemade pastas, and most especially spending time with her family, particularly her grand and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending summers in Narragansett, and monthly breakfast with her sisters and friends. Marie will be remembered as a kind, generous, and loving woman who will be deeply missed.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at 11AM in St. Mary Parish, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
