Uxbridge- Margaret M. Altieri, 100, of Hazel Plaza passed away on Wed. Aug. 30, 2023 after an illness.
She is survived by 3 nieces Judith Bullio of Whitinsville, Elizabeth A. Lehtola of Uxbridge, and Mary Jane Cahill of Lutz, FL; a nephew, John W. “Jack” Altieri Jr. of Whitinsville; several grand nephews and nieces, along with great-grand nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her 3 brothers, Joseph S. Altieri, John W. Altieri, and Nicholas C. Altieri.
Born in Millville, MA on Oct. 18, 1922 Margaret was the daughter of Anthony and Mary (Pisaturo) Altieri and was a lifelong resident of Uxbridge. She was educated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Milford and continued her education earning an Associate’s degree from Becker Jr. College in accounting. After graduating, she went to work at the Bachman Uxbridge Worsted Woolen Co. until their closing. She then was employed with Frabotta Oil, and following went to work as an accountant for Arthur C. Young and Co., CPAs in Hopedale until her retirement. Affectionately known as “Auntie” she was the family accountant and for the family business Altieri Service Station in Worcester.
A devoted daughter, Margaret was the longtime caregiver for her mother before she passed. Extremely independent, she cherished her family and her Italian heritage. A woman of great faith, she was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church in Uxbridge and always attended St. Claire Church while vacationing in Misquamicut Beach.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Thurs. Sept. 7th at 12 noon in St. Mary’s Church, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. A calling hour in St. Mary’s Church will be held prior to Mass from 11am – 12 noon.
