Madeleine C. (Vaine) Jacques

Northbridge- Madeleine C. (Vaine) Jacques, 94, formerly of Heritage Dr., passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Advinia Care Nursing Center after a period of declining health, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 60 years, Roland A. Jacques, passed away in 2007.

     She is survived by 7 sons, Dennis Jacques of Brookfield, Paul Jacques of Blackstone, Stephen Jacques and David Jacques both of Northbridge, Daniel Jacques of York, PA, Mark Jacques of Canfield, OH, and Michael Jacques of Canton, Ohio; 2 daughters, Suzanne Hamelin of Manchester, CT, and Claudia Tourigny of Spencer; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. She was sister of the late Estelle Goule, and Muriel Moody and was predeceased by her grandson Scott Hamelin.          

     Born in Woonsocket, RI on March 30, 1928, she was the daughter of Emil and Ernestine (DeCelles) Vaine, and lived in Northbridge since 1963. Previously she lived in Millbury 9 years. Educated at the St. Claire School in Woonsocket, Mrs. Jacques worked at Friendly’s Restaurant in Whitinsville, and was a secretary for  the Northbridge Board of Health. She also drove a school bus for the Northbridge School system several years.

     Outgoing and full of life, Madeleine enjoyed playing cards, and bowling in the Sparetime League. She was an active member of the Northbridge Senior Center and drove their Elder Bus several years. She loved artwork and oil painting as well as attending the French Club in Millbury. Above all Madeleine loved raising her family and was happiest in the company of her grand and great-grandchildren. A devout Catholic, she was a longtime member of St. Peter’s and later Good Shepherd Church where she sang in the choir.

     Her funeral will be held on Saturday, August 6 from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville with a Mass at 11am in St. Peter’s Church, 39 Church Ave., Northbridge. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Whitinsville. Calling hours at the funeral home in Whitinsville are Saturday August 6 from 8:30 -10:30 am.
