Douglas- Louise A. “Lou” DeJordy, 90, formerly of Douglas passed away peacefully on Wed., Sept. 6, 2023 at Quaboag Nursing Home after a period of declining health. 

       Lou is survived by several nieces, nephews and friends. She was sister of the late Anita Stanick, Doris DeJordy, Cecile Carter, Robert DeJordy, Eugene DeJordy, Joseph DeJordy and Paul DeJordy. 

      Born in Springfield, MA on June 13, 1933 Louise was the youngest daughter of Wilfred P. and Delvina (Valcourt) DeJordy, and was raised in Douglas. She lived 35 years in the Brookfield area and previously in the Springfield area 24 years. She was a graduate Douglas High School, Worcester State College and Assumption College. 

     A woman of great faith, Lou was a Sister for the St. Joseph Religious Order in the Springfield area for 24 years. It was a calling she loved and was happy to be a part of. Her family was proud of her as well. She later became a teacher and eventually a Guidance Counselor at Shepherd Hill Regional High School in Dudley where she worked 25 years. Popular with her students, Miss DeJordy was often sought after for advice. She retired in 2002.

     Lou was social and outgoing. She cherished her family, especially the nieces and nephews. She loved parties, holidays, and gatherings, and was often the last to leave. Kind and funny, she had a nice sense of humor. A music lover, she enjoyed playing the piano, was an avid Red Sox fan, and was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in N. Brookfield.

     Her Funeral Service will be held on Sat. Sept. 16th at 11 AM in Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St. Douglas. Cremation burial will follow in St. Denis Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 10-11 AM prior to her service. Donations in Lou’s memory may be made to Apostolate for Recovery, St. Anne’s Church, Box 488 N.
