Lorraine A. (Ducharme) Cousineau, 92, of Nature View Drive, Uxbridge, MA passed away peacefully on Monday January 23, 2023 at Milford Regional Hospital with family at her side. Lorraine often expressed that she had had a long, fulfilled life and was ready to be reuinited with her beloved husband of 67 years, Roger R. Cousineau, who passed on April 20, 2020.
She is survived by four children, Patricia Cousineau of Peacham, VT, Steven Cousineau and his wife Tara of Newton, MA, Karina Cousineau of Kingston, NY, and Su Cousineau of Jamaica Plain, MA and her two treasured grandchildren, Sophie and Josie Cousineau. Lorraine also leaves behind her longtime friends, Gordon and Jackie Kollett, and Lou and (deceased) Edward Kogut, sister-in-laws Carmen Cousineau and Joan Ducharme, lifelong friend Dorothy Trudel, many nieces and nephews and her constant companion, cat Buddy. She was the sister of the late Leo A. Ducharme and John ‘Jack’ Ducharme and the sister-in-law to the late Francis Ducharme, Norman and Phyllis Cousineau, Francis Cousineau, Harvey and Gabrielle Rondeau.
Born in Mapleville, RI on September 17, 1930 Lorraine was the daughter of Ovila and Anna (Callahan) Ducharme and graduated from Burrillville High School, RI in 1948. Lorraine met Roger after his return from the service and they were married in Pascoag, RI on August 16, 1952. Lorraine was a devoted wife and mother who took great pride in caring for her family and home. She and Roger ran Windmill Farm, a family dairy farm in South Uxbridge, for nearly 10 years before settling down on Marywood Street in Uxbridge where they raised their family and lived for 50 years. Lorraine was a talented semstress who sewed most of her young children's clothing and crafted homemade quilts. She enjoyed reading, cooking, painting, antiques shoping, yard sales and, when younger, square dancing with Roger. She and Roger took annual New England camping trips with their children and dear friends, family trips to Old Orchard Beach and, later in life, Florida trips visiting family and yearly vacations to The Cape with friends. Both Lorraine and Roger enjoyed singing with the Uxbridge Town Choir and were longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Church where Lorraine was also a part of their bereavement ministry. In 2014, Lorraine and Roger moved to Olde Canal Village in Uxbridge where they enjoyed a cozy home, lovely neighbors, dear pets and many family gatherings.
