Linda Rossi Obituary

Linda M. (Caine) Rossi of Douglas passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on December 12, 2022 due to a sudden illness. Linda was born August 4, 1945 to Bertha (Reynolds) and James Caine in Providence, Rhode Island.

Linda is survived by her husband of 54 years, David Rossi, and their son Bill Rossi and his partner Lori Hout, along with Lori’s mother Karin, all of whom lived together. Linda is also survived by her sister Beverly Lovin of Orlando, FL, cousin Paula Benson of Bainbridge, GA, grandchildren Erika Rossi, Donald Rossi, and Vanessa Boyce, great-grandchildren Penelope and Olivia Boyce, and beloved family members Rebecca Griffith and Richard, Lavender, Connor, and Brianna Marengo.

Linda graduated with honors from Warwick Veterans Memorial High School in 1963. Over the years, Linda lived in Providence, Warwick, Smithfield, and Burrillville, and she was a member of Norwood Baptist Church in Warwick for a time.

Linda spent her career working as a bank teller at Rhode Island Hospital Trust, BankBoston, Bank of America, and Santander Bank. Linda most enjoyed gardening, sewing, shopping, and camping, and went on several trips with her husband to Campobello Island in New Brunswick. After her retirement, she spent much of her time caring for children in her family, and often took road trips to Florida and Georgia to visit her sister and cousin.

Linda was an intelligent and kind woman with a wonderful sense of humor. Eventually, her mind began to fail her, but she still loved to go for scenic rides, visit lakes, eat ice cream and whole-bellied clams, sing along to her favorite 50’s music, and laugh at jokes – particularly embarrassing stories and physical comedy.

Over the last year and a half, Linda received a great deal of help from caregivers Samantha and Kim, whom Linda’s family thanks for supporting them in keeping Linda safe, healthy, and happy at home. They showed Linda indescribable kindness, patience, and generosity.

Linda’s life will be celebrated during calling hours on Saturday January 7, 2023 from 10am to noon at Jackman Funeral Home in Douglas, followed by a bereavement meal in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Linda’s memory to any local animal shelter or Tri Valley, Inc. in Dudley, MA. To leave a condolence message for her family please visit www.jackmanfuneralhomes.com.
