Uxbridge- Leo Arthur Bergeron, 79, passed peacefully at his home in St. David, AZ on February 6, 2025 following a long illness. His sister Dorothy and good friend Ken Bledsoe were by his side. He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Beverlee Anne Wold,
He is survived by step-son Bela Balogh of Ayer, MA; daughter Florence Dodge of Detroit, ME; siblings William Bergeron of Woonsocket, RI, Beatrice King and her husband Larry of Douglas, Albert Bergeron of Millville, Richard "Rudy" Bergeron of Fitchburg, Therese Dion of Grafton, Dorothy Thompson and her husband Stirling of Whitinsville, David Bergeron and his wife Kathy of Whitinsville, Joseph Bath and his wife Sheila of Talladega, AL and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many good friends in Arizona. He was also predeceased by his son Leo Jr, his step-son David, his brothers Ronald, Raymond, and Ernest Bergeron, and his sister Doris Chippo.
Born on May 11, 1945 in Uxbridge he was the son of the late William G. Bergeron and Florence (Courteau) Bergeron. As a young man, he worked on the farm where his family lived in Uxbridge. He later worked on other farms in the Blackstone Valley. He also worked for the former Prest Wheel in Grafton before moving to Gardner where he worked many years as a lumberjack. Later he moved with his wife to Athol, where they ran a restaurant.
In 1993 Leo moved to Arizona where he worked and resided in Apache Mobile Home Park where he worked as a maintenance man. He was employed by the St. David School District as a maintenance man from 1999-2010. A few years later he became the crossing guard until 2021. Leo then operated a roadside stand selling locally grown pecans, pistachios, and honey. Leo was well known and loved by the community who affectionately nicknamed him, "The Mayor of St. David."
