Katherine M. “Kate” (DiRienzo) Colonero

N. Uxbridge- Katherine M. “Kate” (DiRienzo) Colonero, 100, of W. Hartford Ave., died Fri. Dec 22, 2023. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Vincent “James” Colonero Sr., who died in Dec. 11, 2011.

    She is survived by 5 children, Vincent “James” Colonero Jr. and his wife Gloria of Southington, CT, Paula A. Montesi and her husband Joseph of Little River, SC, Richard Colonero of Uxbridge, Robert Colonero of Uxbridge, and Kevin A. Colonero of Winter Haven FL; 5 grandchildren, Kate Colonero, Gregory Colonero, Matthew Colonero, Joshua Montesi, and Anthony Colonero; 9 great- grandchildren, Sophia, Olivia, Nico, Rocco, Luna, Luca, Carter, Ellie, and Vincent; 2 sisters, Marie Colonero and Doris Calarese both of Uxbridge; a brother, John DiRienzo and his wife Patricia of Uxbridge; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Rita E. Cogliandro. 

    Born in Milford on Feb. 13, 1923 she was the daughter of Dominic and Anna (Romasco) DiRienzo and was a lifelong resident of N. Uxbridge. 

        Mrs. Colonero worked 30 years for the Uxbridge school system. She began in the cafeteria for the North Uxbridge School  later at the Uxbridge High School. Eventually she became the head chef. She was a 1940 graduate of Uxbridge High School. An avid reader, she especially enjoyed fiction novels, and belonged to a book group with friends. She loved to cook and bake. She loved to travel, make ceramics, and decorate for the holidays. A thoughtful woman, she always remembered and sent cards for anniversaries and birthdays of friends and family. She was a member of the N. Uxbridge Italian Club, the Twin Mothers Club, Good Shepherd Church, and St. Mary’s Church. Family was most important to Katherine however. She always kept in touch with her extended family and truly loved her own.

    Her funeral will take place Thurs. Dec. 28th at 1 PM in St. Mary’s Church, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours in Tancrell-Jackman Funeral home, 35 Snowling Rd. will be Weds. Dec. 27th from 3-6 PM and on Thurs. Dec. 28th from 11-12:30.
