Northbridge- Joseph P. Peloquin, 92, of High St. passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester after a period of declining health. His wife of 40 years, Celia M. (Bregman) Peloquin died May 21, 1997.
He is survived by 2 children, Paul E. Peloquin and his wife Beverly of Deltona FL, and Christine M. Benedetto and her husband Anthony of Whitinsville; his daughter-in-law, Inger Peloquin of NC; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son, Daniel T. Peloquin in 2018; his granddaughter, Karen (Peloquin) Chick in 2022; and by three siblings: Claire Dalton, Lucille Peloquin, and Joseph “Leo” Peloquin.
Born on October 31, 1933, in the Rockdale section of Northbridge, he was the son of Raoul and Germaine (St. Martin) Peloquin. Joe was educated at St. Peter’s School and the Northbridge public school system. A proud United States Navy veteran, he served during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1956 and was stationed at Green Cove Springs Naval Air Station, attaining the rank of Damage Controlman, Petty Officer Third Class. He was recalled to active duty during the Vietnam era in 1968, serving one year in Vietnam as a Builder, Petty Officer Second Class, with the Seabees Construction Battalion.
Joseph worked for many years as a union carpenter and as a foreman for the former Tainer Tech Factory in Rockdale, retiring in 1995. Joe was a member of the Oliver Ashton Post 343 of the American Legion in Northbridge and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in Rockdale. He enjoyed dining out, taking day trips to Foxwoods, and Mohegan Casinos for lunch. For years, he wintered in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 7th in St. Peter’s Church, 39 Church Ave, Northbridge at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Whitinsville. Calling hours will be held in Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville, prior to Mass from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to St Peter’s Church, 39 Church Ave. Northbridge, MA 01534.
