Whitinsville- Joseph J. Kacmarcik Sr., 96, formerly of Prescott Rd., died Sat., Dec. 20, 2025 at his home in Stuart, FL, after a brief illness.
He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Shirley A. (Norman) Kacmarcik; 2 daughters, Joan M. Warner and her husband Daniel of Canoga Park, CA, and Ann M. Kacmarcik-Budroe and her husband Joseph of Whitinsville; 2 sons, Joseph J. Kacmarcik Jr. of Dudley, and David A. Kacmarcik and his wife Laurie of Nasonville, RI; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his daughter, Elaine Kacmarcik Knight in 1984; 2 sons, Peter M. Kacmarcik in 2007, and John P. Kacmarcik in 2020; his granddaughter, Heather Ann Kacmarcik in 2005, and was brother of the late Michael J. Kacmarcik Jr.
Born in Douglas on January 22, 1929, Mr. Kacmarcik was the son of Michael J. Sr., and Anna Susan (Michna) Kacmarcik, and was raised in Douglas. He lived many years on Prescott Rd., in Whitinsville, where he raised his family. He has lived in Stuart, FL since 1989. He was a graduate of Douglas High School, and soon after, proudly enlisted in the U.S.Air Force, serving in the Medical Corps.
A hard worker, Joe was employed at the former Schuster Woolen Company in Douglas, and as a Carding Supervisor at Felter’s Mill in Millbury. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Whitinsville and St. Joseph’s Church in Stuart, FL, the American Legion, the Elks Club, and the Slovak Catholic Sokol. Over the years, he and Shirley enjoyed travelling, visiting every state in the U.S, exploring Europe, and taking several cruises. Above all, he was a family man who always put others ahead of himself and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
His funeral will be held Mon., Dec. 29th at 11 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours in Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville, will be held Sun. Dec. 28th from 2-4 PM.
