Northbridge- Joseph D. DeJordy Sr., 89, of Melvin Village NH, former longtime Northbridge resident, died Thurs. April 25 at home after an illness. His wife of 57 years Cecile L. (Poliquin) DeJordy died Aug. 14, 2005.
He is survived by 3 sons Robert E. and his wife Mary DeJordy of Northbridge, Joseph D. Jr. and his wife Sandra DeJordy of Northbridge, Mark R. and his wife Debi DeJordy of Northbridge; 2 daughters Pauline C. Taylor and her husband Chuck of Westwood, MA, and Joanne McCue and her husband Michael of Melvin Village NH with whom he lived; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister Louise A. "Lou" DeJordy of N Brookfield; 2 brothers Eugene DeJordy of Douglas and Paul DeJordy in Florida; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a son Paul J. DeJordy, a daughter Denise M. DeJordy, and was brother of the late Anita Stanick, Doris DeJordy, Cecile Carter, and Robert DeJordy. Born in the Manchaug section of Sutton on May 25, 1923 he was the son of Wilfred and Delvina (Valcourt) DeJordy and lived most of his life in Northbridge. He had lived in Melvin Village, NH the past 3 years.
Mr. DeJordy worked for the Wyman Gordon Co. in Grafton for many years, retiring in 1986. Previously he worked for Dave's Restaurant in Linwood and the Stanley Woolen Co. in Uxbridge. He was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific and Philippine Theaters. He volunteered at the Northbridge Senior Center and enjoyed crossword puzzles and woodworking in his younger years. He was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Communion Visitor and Acolyte.
His funeral will be held Thurs. May 2 from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St. Whitinsville with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Good Shepherd Church, 121 Linwood St. Linwood. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thurs. May 2 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Donations may be made to Good Shepherd Renovation Fund, Box 517.
